The short version. TrueCost keeps everything on your device.
There is no account to create, no login, and no TrueCost server that receives
your information. We don't collect, sell, or share your personal data —
because we never receive it in the first place.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you enter — your cars, their prices and running costs, expenses,
logbook trips, reminders, and your settings — is stored locally on
your device only. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party.
If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it. Use
Settings → Export backup to save a copy yourself.
What leaves your device
Vehicle catalogue data is downloaded read-only
from our hosting so the app can show makes, models and typical figures.
These requests fetch reference data only; they do not send us your cars or
any personal information.
Number-plate lookup is an optional convenience that is
off unless it's set up. If it's available and you choose
to look up a plate, only that plate and its state are sent to a lookup
provider to return the vehicle's make, model and year — nothing else. If
you never use it, nothing is sent. When you do, the provider's own privacy
terms apply to that request.
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We
never see your name, card, or Apple ID — the App Store only tells the app
whether your one-time unlock is active.
The app does not use analytics or advertising SDKs, does not track you across
apps or websites, and does not access your contacts, photos, or location.
Children
TrueCost is a general-audience finance and utility app and is not directed at
children under 13.
